More than 300 fans of different nationalities will meet in Pamplona to participate in the II International Solidarity Chess Tournament. It is a meeting in favor of the research of Alzheimer's disease, organized by the research center Applied Medical (CIMA) of the University of Navarra in partnership with the Spanish Confederation of Alzheimer's (CEAFA), the association of Relatives of Alzheimer's patients of Navarra (AFAN), the Spanish Chess Federation and the Navarra Chess Federation. The event will be held on July 1st and 2nd at the sports center of the University of Navarra.

"financial aid a tu report, dale jaque mate al alzhéimer" is the motto of this tournament aimed at all audiences and with a family character. According to Mariano de Pablos, manager of project and director of the tournament, "after the good reception we had last year, this year we start the tournament with an intergenerational exhibition with six participants between 6 and 96 years old. Among them, the three oldest active chess players in Spain, as well as Javier Habans from Navarra, current Spanish U8 and U10 champion, and Leyre Abrisqueta from Navarra, European school runner-up. On Saturday at 4 p.m. they will show us that chess is a sport discipline for all ages". The proceeds will be used to reinforce the line of research against Alzheimer's disease, which is carried out at CIMA.
