Due to the pandemic context, which unfortunately we are living, the workshop had an online format. However, this setback did not detract one iota of interest from a day that is always marked in the calendar of the School. On this occasion, the event was attended by more than 60 participants from all over Spain.

The goal of the workshop biosanitary is to bring the biomedical research closer to all those students of high school diploma interested in dedicating themselves professionally to the research of medicines, food and health in general.

At the end, from the School, we try that the possible prospective students have a first contact with the University, the subjects they are going to study and the realization of different practical cases that can call their attention. The workshop had three sessions including the occasional case study.

The first session was entitled "Nutrition and health: anemia case study". As the name suggests, the session was directly related to the area of nutrition. The speaker, alumni of the Degree in Nutritionspoke about the fundamental role that food plays in the world of health. The nutritional research is necessary to detect and combat different diseases that have, as their main origin, a poor diet. Especially in overfed countries. Already entering subject practice, attention the disease of iron deficiency anemia and the absorption of dietary iron.

The second session was called "Fighting Alzheimer's: development of drugs". On this occasion, it was at position of several professors of the Degree in Pharmacy. They talked about Alzheimer's disease from a pharmaceutical point of view, highlighting the importance of the study and the design of new drugs that can fight this neurodegenerative disease. From a practical point of view, an interactive experiment "in vitro and in vivo" was carried out in order to test the efficacy of some drugs in the fight against this disease.

Finally, there was an informative session about all the Degrees biosanitary programs at the University of Navarra. There was a exhibition explaining the academic programs and the most important reasons for deciding to study with us a university Degree .

This informative session put the finishing touch to a different workshop , due to the fact that it was online, but that maintained the same interest and passion as in the 12 previous editions. We thank attendance to all those interested and hope we can meet again soon.
