Iranzu Peña, researcher and reader at the Institute of language and Spanish Culture (ILCE) of the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra, has been awarded the award "ASELE - Routledge 2024 thesis Doctoral" for her research "Consciencia metafórica y narración digital (digital storytelling) en español/L2". This is a highly relevant recognition in the field of the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language language awarded annually by ASELE, the association for the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language language .

In her thesis , defended last December and directed by Professor Eduardo Negueruela, the doctoral candidate addresses the concept of storytelling in the teaching of Spanish from a holistic perspective and connected to the use of technology. She also explores metaphorical awareness and the role of narratives in the identity of language learning.

In the words of the jury, the study "highly original, rigorous and excellent in its structuring of the methodology, the state of the art and the design of the research can serve as a document of reference letter on the implementation of digital storytelling and creative writing in the teaching of languages". The award consists of the opportunity to transform the thesis into a monograph in Routledge, one of the most prestigious publishers in linguistics and teaching of languages.
