Three GRISO researchers participate in Poitiers in the congress "Towards Modernity".

The meeting, organized by CELES XVII-XVIII, brought together 39 researchers from 10 countries.

It was recently held at the University of Poitiers (France) the international congress "Towards Modernity. The construction of a new literary theoretical order between Baroque and Neoclassicism (1650-1750)". The meeting was organized by the CELES (Centro de programs of study de la Literatura española de Entre Siglos. Siglos XVII-XVIII), at partnership with the GRISO (group de research Siglo de Oro de la Universidad de Navarra), the IDEA (high school de programs of study Auriseculares), the GIC (group de research Calderón de la Universidade de Santiago de Compostela), El high school de México and the project "The Hispanic Baroque". At the opening ceremony Michel Briand, Vice President of research and Director of the Laboratoire FoReLL (Formes et Représentations en Linguistique et Littérature) of the University of Poitiers, emphasized the international character and multidisciplinary of this congress, which has been possible thanks to the valuable partnership of all the institutions involved in its organization.

The program of the congress included presentations by 39 specialists from universities in France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Romania, Gabon, Mexico, the United States and Canada. The University of Navarra was represented by three GRISO researchers: Juan Manuel Escudero, who spoke on "Epigonos entremesiles calderonianos. Ruptura y continuismo estético en los entremeses de Zamora"; Carlos Mata Induráin, who focused his work on the figure of "José Joaquín Benegasi y Luján, poeta jocoso y autor de comedias burlescas"; and Felix K. E. Schmelzer, who presented the topic "Logos matemático y logos poético: la concepción numérica de la creación en el framework de la poética barroca y neoclásica".

First congress of CELES XVII-XVIII

This activity was the first international congress of the Centro de programs of study de la Literatura española de Entre Siglos (siglos XVII-XVIII) (CELES XVII-XVIII), founded in 2008, which is constituted as an international group of research dedicated to the study of literary production in its various aspects (poetry, prose and theater) and theoretical thought of Spanish literature located between the two major movements that are the Baroque and Neoclassicism. CELES XVII-XVII is recognized as an international network of research by the Spanish Ministry of Education through high school Cervantes. Prof. Ignacio Arellano, Director of the GRISO, is part of its Scientific committee , and also other researchers of the team (J. Enrique Duarte, Juan Manuel Escudero, Carlos Mata Induráin and Blanca Oteiza) are members of CELES XVII-XVIII.
