The Women for Science and Technology platform of the University of Navarra has organized the seminar "Spanish women scientists who have made history: Piedad de la Cierva and Guadalupe Ortíz de Landázuri" given by professors Inma Alva and Itziar Vélaz.

"We want to make clear the historical context in which both scientists developed their programs of study and their research", says Itziar Vélaz, vice-dean of Office of Academic Affairs of the School of Sciences. Both will try to tell "specific details of their lives but basically about their professional career, their intellectual capacity, motivation, strength and struggle to develop their talent and promote women as equals to men", concludes Dr. Vélaz.

The seminar will be open to all interested students since, as the speakers state, "knowing the historical context and the stories of these two women can motivate them, knowing that with ability, effort, work, whatever their nature, they can go very far".

On the other hand, the members of WST have prepared a video summary with biographies of women scientists that will be shown at the next FORUN meeting , to be held at the University of Navarra on March 23.

Date: March 1st
Time: 3:00 p.m.
Place: classroom 5, Los Castaños
