The School of Philosophy and Letters welcomes 204 new students

The School of Philosophy and Letters of the University has welcomed the 204 students who this academic year 2023-24 will begin their programs of study. Of these, 141 students will be taking one of the following courses Degrees or double Degrees offered by the School: language and Spanish Literature; Philosophy, Politics and Economics; Philosophy; History; Law + Philosophy ; Philosophy + Journalism; History + Journalism ; and International Office + History; and 63 are part of the International Foundation Program. The new students come from the following countries: Angola, Brazil, Bolivia, Canada, Colombia, Chile, China, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Italy, Kenya, Korea, Mauritania, Mexico, Mozambique, Moldova, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, United States, Venezuela and Uruguay.

At a welcoming reception at workshop held at classroom Magna of Central Building, the dean of School, Julia Pavón, encouraged them to never lose the illusion of cultivating humanistic knowledge and to take advantage of the university stage through study and dialogue with the teachers who will accompany them during these years.

For her part, Dolores López, Vice Dean of Students, reminded the new students that they are "fortunate": "To be able to study what you like in a School that allows you to establish enriching conversations and to stop and think; in a University where our passion is to accompany you intellectually and personally so that you can make a more humane society". In this sense, he pointed out the 5 values that are part of the DNA of the University of Navarra and that will mark their passage through the academic center: freedom, responsibility, work, respect and service.

Cristina Terroba, manager of internships and employment of the School, then spoke to them about the opportunities for professional development that they will have during these years. "There are no careers with opportunities, only people with opportunities. Those who have desire, enthusiasm, effort, work and commitment will go far," she said.

The students were also able to learn about the figure of the coordinator from Degree and courseby the hand of Professor Ramon GonzalezThe President of the University, from department of Philology, who has pointed out to them that their time at the University "cannot be limited to classroom and Library Services. With a good weather managementYou will be able to take advantage of many possibilities to enrich yourselves staff and academically".

An idea shared by Almudena Uclés, student delegate of the School, who has given them some advice as a veteran student. "Study, put interest and take advantage of all the resources and activities offered by the University. There is time for everything, it's a matter of organizing and prioritizing". As the dean, she reminded them that they will always be accompanied: "You are going to meet very good people and when people leave the University of Navarra, they take mainly that with them: people". "Today the good things begin. You have four incredible years ahead of you," she concluded.
