ICS researchers Luis Alberiko Gil-Alaña and Alazne Belar receive grants from the Government of Spain to spend time abroad
They have been awarded respectively a financial aidfor senior researchers and another one for young doctors "José Castillejo", which contribute to finance their stays in the United Kingdom and Switzerland mobility

Two researchers from the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra have been awarded grants from the Ministry of Education and training Professional for mobility stays abroad. Luis Alberiko Gil-Alaña, from the Navarra Center for International Development (NCID), has obtained one for senior researchers and Alazne Belar, from the ATLANTES Global Observatory of Palliative Care, has obtained a "José Castillejo" grant for young doctors.
These grants help to finance their stays at researchin London (UK) for the former and at the University Hospital Centre of Vaud (Switzerland) for the latter.
Luis Alberiko Gil-Alaña will be in London during the months of June, July and August 2022. He will work with Guglielmo Caporale, from Brunel University, and also with experts from other centres such as the London School of Economics. His goalis to propose new theoretical developments in fractional integration.
Professor Gil-Alaña is currently leading at NCID the project"Fractional Integration: Theoretical Advances and Empirical Developments", funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and the European Regional Fund (ERDF) development.
This projectis a continuation of the line of researchinitiated in 2002 in relation to the theoretical models of reportlong and fractional integration and their empirical extension linked to the analysis of poverty.
Experience of wanting to die in people with advanced disease
Alazne Belar has already completed her stay between September and December 2021. The researcher worked with Phil Larkin, PhD at the same institution and former president of the association European Palliative Care Association. Her goalwas to analyse dataobtained from interviews with people with advanced illnesses, in order to carry out a qualitative analysis to understand the patients' experience of wanting to die.
The topicof her stay is related to her doctoral thesis , which she defended in 2019 at the ICS. She developed it in the frameworkof the project"Dignity and wishes to die in patients with advanced disease", co-financed by the high schoolde Salud Carlos III -Subdirección General de assessmenty Fomento de la researchand the European Regional Fund development(FEDER)".
In addition to these ICS researchers, a collaborator of group'Mind-Brain' of the ICS has obtained a financial aid"José Castillejo". This is Maite Aznárez, a researcher at Schoolof Educationand Psychology, who will spend a stay in the United Kingdom.
These grants are funded by the Ministry of Universities in the frameworkof the State Programme for the Promotion of Talent and its Employability in research and development+i, State Sub-programme of mobility, of the State Plan for Scientific and Technical and Innovation research2017-2020.
