An ATLANTES researcher from ICS, awarded by the Latin American Palliative Care association
Vilma Tripodoro has received the award of research Dr. Eduardo Bruera in the framework of the X Latin American congress of Palliative Care.

The Latin American Palliative Careassociation has awarded the award de research Dr. Eduardo Bruera to Vilma Tripodoro, team member of the ATLANTES Global Observatory of Palliative Care of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra. The submission took place at the framework of the X congress Latin American Palliative Care, held November 9-12, 2022 in Costa Rica.
The award recognizes the "excellent and consolidated work of research "of Dr. Tripodoro, as well as her professional trajectory in the field of palliative care, which has contributed "to the development and strengthening of palliative care in the Latin American region".
Vilma Tripodoro (Argentina) has joined ATLANTES in the academic year 2022-2023 as a researcher to develop a project of assessment and follow-up of the development strategic palliative care. She will also initiate the project of the new Atlas of Africa at partnership with the World Health Organization.
She holds a PhD in Medicine, Health, Wellness and Quality of Life (UVIC-Central Catalonia, Spain). She has worked as a physician, professor and researcher in palliative care at the high school de Investigaciones Médicas A. Lanari of the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and at high school Pallium Latinoamérica.
The award of research Eduardo Bruera was created to encourage the research in Latin America. With it, the ALCP recognizes the outstanding contribution of Dr. Eduardo Bruera, head of the department of Palliative Care, Rehabilitation and Integrative Medicine at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (USA), to the development of palliative care in the region, and specifically the research.
The line of research of Palliative Medicine of the University of Navarra is one of the main axes of its Strategy 2025. It promotes a social impact-oriented research and a scientific production focused, in this case, on the search for personalized solutions for the health care of patients with diseases that involve severe pain.
