Leyre Becerril Tarifa, a high school diploma Santa María la Real high school (Maristas) in Pamplona, has won the regional round of the Biology Olympiad. The test was held at the School of Science at the University of Navarra on Saturday, February 15, 105 students from 19 schools in the region participated.
The second best result went to Iñigo Rodríguez (pictured), from IES Basoko in Pamplona. Also receiving special mentions for their good participation were the following students Xabier López (Saint Teresa of Jesus), María Isabel Mangado (Monjardín High School), Belén San Miguel (IES Ibaialde), Clara Aguilera (San Cernin), Ariadna Nicuesa (Monjardín High School), Amin Alimmouch (IES place de la Cruz), Sofia Kvasnytska (San Ignacio - Jesuitas Pamplona).
submission will take place on Thursday, March 13, at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium Sciences Building the University of Navarra. Representatives from the University of School of Science and high school of Biologists of Navarra are expected to attend.
The schools and institutes participating in this regional phase were San Ignacio-Jesuitas de Pamplona, IES Navarro Villoslada, Santa Teresa de Jesús, IES Padre Moret Irubide, Irabia-Izaga, IES Basoko, Liceo Monjardín, IES Cizur, Dominicas Pamplona, IES Tierra Estella, Biurdana BHI, IES Ibaialde, Calasanz-Escolapios, Santa María la Real-Maristas, Jesuitinas, IES place de la Cruz, Nuestra Señora del Huerto, Sagrado Corazón and San Cernin.
The top two finishers of this regional phase will participate from April 3 to 6 in the national phase of the Biology Olympiad, which this year will be held at the University of La Laguna in Tenerife. The students who obtain the four best positions in the national test will opt for the international test , which this year will take place in Quezon (Philippines) from July 20 to 27. On the other hand, those who place 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th in the national phase will be able to compete in the Iberoamerican Biology Olympiad to be held in Colombia from September 7 to 14.
