'Ars bene docendi' is the book that colleagues and friends have edited to pay tribute to Professor Kurt Spang. "For forty years he has devoted himself with enthusiasm to the teaching. He has done it with work and will, and with all the characteristic traits of his person: generosity, simplicity, sense of humor and affection for those around him, crossing the barrier between teacher and student", said at the tribute ceremony the professor of School of Philosophy and Letters Carmen Saralegui.

Professor Spang acknowledged the tribute with the reading of a pastiche. Through the composition, inspired by the poem by Miguel D'Ors, "Little Testament" he retraced the stages of his life (Germany, Navarra and the University) and recalled his years of work professor.

At the event, which took place at the classroom Magna of the Central Building, also spoke the Dean of the School of Philosophy and Letters, Jaume Aurell, and the director of the department of Hispanic Literature and Theory of Literature, Ignacio Arellano, who highlighted the professional and human quality of Kurt Spang. Professor Arellano drew attention to how innovative his programs of study had always been, recalling that he frequently resorted to examples taken from the advertising long before the explosion of this medium.

For his part, Dean Jaume Aurell pointed out that Professor Kurt Spang "has contributed to making this university, above all, an experience staff worth living" and highlighted his intellectual modesty, "a wisdom that never imposes itself, that is open to the opinions of other colleagues and that listens to his students".

The tribute was part of the international congress "El arte nuevo de Lope y la preceptiva dramática del Siglo de oro", dedicated to Lope de Vega and organized by the group de research Siglo de Oro of the University of Navarra (GRISO) and the Sociedad Estatal de Conmemoraciones Culturales (SECC). Experts such as Miguel Ángel Garrido, from the Centro de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales-CESIC; Frédéric Serralta, from the University of Toulouse-Le Mirail; José María Díez Borque, Universidad Complutense de Madrid; Javier Rubiera, from the University of Montreal or Joan Oleza, from the University of Valencia, participated in the meeting .
