521 undergraduates are studying this academic year 2025-26 at the University of Navarra thanks to an Alumni scholarship . Of these, 444 are from Spain (168 from Navarra) and 77 are international students from 21 countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico, United States, and Venezuela.

The academic center recently held a welcome ceremony for these students in the Magna classroom of the Central Building. The event was chaired by the Vice President of Students, Rosalía Baena, and was attended by Pablo Castrillo, professor of the School of Communication; and Cristina Cuadrado, Alumni scholar and Journalism student.

"It is a great fortune to be a scholarship recipient Alumni and also a responsibility, not only to maintain the scholarship, but I would say that you have the responsibility to understand well what the mission statement is and to participate in the project that we want to carry out at the University of Navarra: what are ourideals, objectives, concerns. In a way, you are already forever linked to this institution," said Rosalía Baena. The Vice President wanted to thank the students, the donors, the development team, the Funding Office, the development Service and all those who, in one way or another, make this program possible.

During the ceremony, Pablo Castrillo, Associate Dean of Students of the School of Communication, asked the scholarship recipients to take advantage of this opportunity and become themselves. And Cristina Cuadrado, a 3rd year Journalism student, addressed a few words to her fellow students, in which she expressed that the day of a scholarship recipient should not be invested only in academics. "We must try to take what the University of Navarra is outside, to all those people who have not been able to experience this gift. That's why it's important that we take as many 'little pieces' of this institution with us as possible," he said.

Nearly 5 million euros

The Alumni Scholarships were launched in 2003 with the goal of enabling any talented student to study at the University. Since then, 2,245 students have benefited from this program, which is supported by the contributions of companies, friends of the University, alumni and other individuals and institutions that support the University of Navarra's project .

The amount allocated to Alumni Scholarships this year is 4.8 million euros. The average amount per scholarship is 9,097 euros, dedicated to enrollment and accommodation.

In addition, the university has set itself the goal of raising an additional 15 million euros for 75 perpetual scholarships for its 75th anniversary. The amount earmarked for these scholarships comes from an endowment, a portfolio of assets that serves to finance the program on a stable basis. To date, 18 Perpetual Alumni Scholarships have been established.
