Five researchers from Biodiversity and Environment Institute at the University of Navarra— Marta Fuentes, Javier Erro, Yasser Morera, Johann Martínez-Lüscher, and Juan Pablo Fuenzalida —have been awarded the certificate by the State research Agency. This recognition certifies their status as established researchers, a distinction that attests to the quality, independence, and maturity of their scientific careers within the Spanish research and development system.
The certificate , governed by the Science Act, recognizes researchers who have reached an advanced level in their degree program and who have demonstrated scientific excellence, leadership skills, research independence, and internationalization. In the context of internship, this accreditation is accreditation relevant for the consolidation of degree program and scientific degree program , as it influences evaluation in tenure-track processes and access to permanent positions in the public research system. The 2025 call for applications from the State research Agency specifically research that this certification allows for the formal recognition of the research quality and independence of those who have attained the profile of established researcher (R3).
In this context, Marta Fuentes and Javier Erro, researchers group Chemistry Agricultural Biology (Bach) group , are conducting research the field of sustainable agriculture, focusing their programs of study the Economics as applied to zero-carbon-footprint fertilizers. In addition, Marta serves as the coordinator area Sustainable Agriculture and Agroecologyarea .
For his part, Johann Martínez-Lüscher, researcher the Plant Stressgroup (FEP) group , studies the resilience of certain plant species to climate change, as well as the development strategies to help these species adapt. Together with Marta, coordinator Sustainable area and Agroecology area .
Yasser Morera, researcher laboratory Environmental Qualitylaboratory (LICA), is one of the coordinators of area Environmentalarea and Healtharea at the BIOMA Institute and one of the principal investigators (PIs) of project HIBLOOMS project . He is currently working on two lines of research: one on the employment dated sediment profiles to reconstruct pollution in Spanish reservoirs (currently focused on cyanobacteria); and air pollution (emerging pollution focused on microplastics).
Finally, Juan Pablo Fuenzalida, a member of group Supramolecular Materials for Biomedical and Environmental Technologies (SUMBET) group , conducts research in protein engineering, Chemistry , functional materials, bioimaging, and sensors, combining biomedicine with environmental sciences.
