School of Architecture participates in the Edifica 2023 Fair

The academic center has thus underlined its commitment to the training of future architects and construction professionals in the field of sustainability.

The IV Edifica 2023 Fair, the professional point of meeting for sustainable and healthy Building in Spain, has ended with the submission of the Edifica 2023 Awards. Edifica AwardsAwards, organized by the Passivhaus Consortium and the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra. The awards, aimed at students and professionals, highlight the commitment to conscious and sustainable construction.

Elías Ayala Juárez, a final year student of Architecture at the University of Málaga, has received the award scholarship Edifica for his project Instant Plug, which has been rewarded with the double Master's Degree of Architecture and Sustainability, design and management Environmental Buildings of the University of Navarra.

In the case of the Edifica Profesionales Awards, Batlle i Roig and Díaz Rojo Arquitectos were the winners in the categories of "New construction for near-zero consumption buildings nZeb" and "Best project for integral energy retrofit rehabilitation", respectively, and received the award prize and an invitation to participate in the Edifica 2023 Fair. 

Through these awards, the School of Architecture underlines its commitment to the training and promotion of future architects and construction professionals in the field of sustainability.

Sustainable construction, protagonist of the discussion

Since the Government of Navarra and the Pamplona City Council inaugurated the 4th edition of the Edifica 2023 Fair on September 20, different actors in the sector who participated in the round tables have been able to share their perspectives on sustainable construction.

The School of Architecture participated in the table of the second workshop that focused on the academic sector and counted with the participation of Carlos Naya, director of the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra; Emilio Lezana, General Manager in the Construction Labor Foundation of Navarra; and Esther Monterrubio, director of the service of planning and integration of FP. The discussion on the training of the new generations was moderated by Ana Ibarra, journalist of group Noticias. 

The speakers highlighted that the construction sector is in a process of transformation and requires trained and qualified professionals to face new challenges. Therefore, the sector must make an effort to communicate to society about the construction of the future, which offers opportunities for employment and development professional, making it more attractive for future generations.

In addition, during the different debates at the Fair, other topics such as energy efficiency, the Next Generation Funds and the opportunity they represent for the new generation Building , the advantages of industrialization in new construction processes, how the model building affects our health, etc., were also discussed.

Throughout the Fair it was also possible to visit more than 30 stands of companies in the sector that have been able to present their various solutions for the promotion of passive buildings.
