Dr. Marta Cuervo Zapatel , a professor at the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition at the University of Navarra, has been awarded the Academy Medal as a Full Academic Member of the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics . This appointment constitutes one of the highest academic recognitions in the field of nutrition and dietetics in Spain.
The submission It took place on October 16, coinciding with World Food Day , in the framework of the congress of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics, held in Madrid and organized by the Academy itself. This distinction recognizes the extensive scientific career, professor and professional of Cuervo, as well as his contribution to the development and consolidation of the dietitian-nutritionist profession in our country.

The Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, created in 2016, brings together more than two thousand qualified professionals in Human Nutrition and Dietetics . Dr. Marta Cuervo is a professor in Health Sciences at the department of Food Science and Physiology , and the research center in Nutrition , of the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition at the University of Navarra where he works professor and researcher since 1998. A PhD holder from the same university (2008), she also holds a degree in Dietetics and Nutrition, a Diploma in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and a Degree in Food Science and Technology . With over 25 years of academic and research experience and five years of clinical practice as a dietitian-nutritionist, she has established herself as a leading figure in the field of nutrition. reference letter in clinical nutrition, diet therapy and research in health.
Her career includes the publication of 67 scientific articles in high-impact journals . She is co-editor of five books and author or co-author of 27 book chapters, in addition to holding a European patent. Between 2003 and 2014 he was part of the board Board of Directors of the Institute of Food Sciences of the University of Navarra and, since 2014, a member of the research center in Nutrition from the same university and the Institute of research Health of Navarra (IDISNA), joining the group of research “Personalized nutrition and metabolic syndrome.”
In addition to his scientific output, he has worked extensively professor at the University of Navarra , coordinating courses and training numerous generations of professionals in Human Nutrition and Dietetics. Throughout his career, degree program has directed 27 Final Projects Degree , 12 Final Projects Master's Degree , 4 thesis defended doctoral dissertations (one more in progress) and more than 50 academic advisory services. She has also been a course coordinator for 16 years and is currently coordinating the 3rd year of the Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
