15 new Ph.D.s at School of Sciences
A total of 15 researchers have defended their doctoral thesis in the School of Sciences in the academic year 2018-19
The 15 students of doctorate who have defended their research in the School of Sciences belong to Departments, Schools and different centers: Aitor Andueza and Amaia Navarro from department of Biochemistry and Genetics; Sergio Bárcena, Miriam Salvador and Marina Bárcena from department of Microbiology and Parasitology; María Casas, Nora Escribano and Nazareth Torres from department of Environmental Biology; Beatriz de Diego and Yasser Morera from department of Chemistry; Irati Garmendia from department of Pathology, Anatomy and Physiology; José Matías from department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Chemistry ; Carla Usai and Gloria Álvarez from area of Gene Therapy and Hepatology from CIMA; and Elena Grossi from area of Oncology from CIMA.
Inmaculada Pascual, Vice-Dean of postgraduate program of the School of Sciences, has indicated the importance for the School of the development of new doctoral thesis : "on the one hand it allows us to continue the lines of research in progress in the Departments as well as to develop the research interest in young scientists; and on the other hand to contribute from the School to make the University of Navarra a reference in research ". Pascual has also indicated that the School of Sciences has a commitment with the research that is also "essential to offer a first class teaching ".
This Friday, June 7, at 18:00 hours, the investiture ceremony of new doctors was held at the classroom Magna del Central Building of the University. Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, President of the University; María Dolores Odero de Dios, godmother of the promotion and professor of department of Biochemistry and Genetics; and Irene Cantero as representative of the new doctors took part in this event. This year the University of Navarra has doctorate 139 students from 22 countries and 15 Schools and centers.
